New Leaders of the International Campus Appointed

An Administrators Meeting was held at the International Campus of Zhejiang University on November 13th. At the meeting, new appointments of Campus leaders were announced. Professor FU Qiang, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang University Council and Director of the Department of Organization, and Professor HE Lianzhen, Vice Chair of the Development Committee of Zhejiang University, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. SUN Qi, Deputy Director of the Organization Department, read the letters of appointment and withdrawal for new and departing Campus administrators. Professor LI Hanying, Dean of the International Campus, hosted the meeting.

Professor FU pointed out that, as it enters a new stage of development, the International Campus should position itself at a higher level to better serve both the national strategy of opening up education to high-level international cooperation and exchange and the regional strategy of innovation-driven development. This will contribute to the development of Zhejiang University as a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. The International Campus should embrace innovation as an important characteristic, firmly strengthening innovation in its institutions and processes to drive reform and development in all its undertakings. The Campus administration should focus on systematic thinking and the correct management of the vital relationships between supporting national strategies and meeting people's needs, knowledge acquisition and holistic development, talent development and societal demands.

Professor HE fully affirmed the important contributions made by QU Lijuan and expressed gratitude for all that she has done for the Campus. She pointed out that, as one of the pioneers of the Campus, QU worked alongside the campus leadership with a strong sense of mission, a high level of responsibility, and excellent execution skills to plan and promote initiatives that resulted in significant progress in the development of the Campus. Professor HE also warmly welcomed LI Min, who is joining the International Campus, and expressed her expectation that LI, with her rich experience in international cooperation and exchanges over many years, will demonstrate her talent and responsibility in the new position and make new contributions to the development of the International Campus. She also expressed her hope that the Campus will advance the development of an international cooperation education model, and play a strategic role in Zhejiang University’s journey towards becoming a world-class university.

QU Lijuan herself reflected on the more than 3,000 days and nights that have passed since she joined the International Campus, recalling unforgettable stories from the Campus's construction and development, as well as her valuable experiences of growing together with the campus. Looking to the future, she stated that she will continue to uphold and promote the innovative and pioneering spirit of the International Campus and will always maintain her commitment to the Campus's development.

LI Min, the newly appointed Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the International Campus, also made a statement. She said that she will swiftly undertake in-depth research to understand and familiarize herself with the various tasks of the campus. In response to the new international landscape and the Campus’s development requirements, she emphasized that, together with the faculty, staff, and students, she will strengthen strategic thinking and planning, clarify the Campus’s development direction and positioning, uphold the principles of innovation and progress, and long-term development of a model for international collaborative education, confirming her commitment to turning that vision into reality.

Professor LI Hanying stated that the leadership will continue to enhance the internal governance system and governance capacity of the Campus to better adapt to the demands of internationalization in education. The leaders will foster a positive and principled environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, strive to achieve outstanding results in the new journey of building an international collaboration model in education, and make new contributions to the development of Zhejiang University as a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
