“2022 Annual Academic Conference & International Conference on Integrated Science-Education-Industry for World-Class Universities” is organized by the International Campus, Zhejiang University, with the theme of “Embracing the World, Shaping the Future”. The Academic Conference aims to encourage idea sharing, strengthen international collaboration, converge leading innovative talents, and explore the cutting-edge cross innovation trends of today’s world.
This year, the Annual Academic Conference will be organized by International Campus, Zhejiang University in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Cambridge, and the National University of Singapore, etc. During the conference, scholars from world-class universities and academic institutions will share their academic achievements and foster closer ties with each other.

Professor Francis Chan is a distinguished professor at Zhejiang University School of Basic Medical Sciences, the Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and the Liangzhu Laboratory. He is also a visiting professor at the Department of Immunology at Duke University in the United States. Professor Chan is an internationally recognised expert in necroptosis and the discoverer of the Receptor Interacting Protein Kinase 3 (RIPK3). He has long been engaged in teaching and research in immunology and cell biology. He is currently dedicated to studying the signalling pathways of necroptosis, its role in tissue repair, and its function in various inflammatory diseases. His team has published more than 80 high-level papers, including 7 in Nature and its sub-journals, 5 in Science and its sub-journals, and 14 in Cell and its sub-journals. Professor Chan, a world-renowned scholar in cell death and immunology, has organised the Gordon Research Conference Cell Death as the conference chair and is an editorial board member of the internationally renowned journal Cell Death and Differentiation. He has received the New Investigator Award from the Cancer Research Institute in New York, the New Investigator Award from the Smith Family Foundation, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America Senior Scholar Award, etc.
Professor Gehan Amaratunga received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wales, Cardiff, U.K. and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., in 1983. Professor Amaratunga is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and a Chartered Engineer. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2004. Then in 2007 he was awarded the Royal Academy of Engineering Silver Medal for outstanding personal contributions to British Engineering. He is the founder and was Chief Technology Officer and Executive Director of power management integrated circuits company Cambridge Semiconductor Ltd. He has published over 500 academic papers, which have been cited more than 40,000 times, and is the inventor of 34 patents. Professor Gehan is highly regarded in the European, American, and Asian industrial sectors and has engaged in extensive technological and commercial collaborations with companies such as Philips and Ford. He is also the founder of four start-up technology companies.
Professor,Dean of the Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences, Zhejiang University
Professor Luo Weidong currently serves as a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He is the Dean of the Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities and Social Sciences, Zhejiang University, as well as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Economics, Zhejiang University. Previously, he held positions such as the President of the Hangzhou City University and Vice President of Zhejiang University. During his tenure, he concurrently served as the Dean of Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School, Dean of the Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences Zhejiang University, and Chief Librarian of Zhejiang University Library. Professor Luo Weidong is a prominent advocate and practitioner of interdisciplinary social science research. His main works include Sentiments; Order, Virtue: The Ethics of Adam Smith, History of Economics Thought; The International Comparisons of Economic Growth and Anti-Inflation and so on.
