Speakers
Prof. XU Zongben
Fellow of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mathematician, Professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University.
Prof. XU Zongben mainly engages in the basic theoretical research of intelligent information processing, machine learning and data modeling. He proposes the L (1/2) Regularization Theory, which serves as the foundation for Sparse Microwave Imaging. In addition, he discovers and identifies the Xu-Roach Themo in machine learning, which solves several difficult problems in neural networks and simulated evolutionary computation, and provides a general deduction criteria for machine learning and non-linear analysis under Non-Euclidean framework. Moreover, he initiates new modeling theories and methodologies based on visual cognition, formulates series of new algorithms for clustering analysis, discriminant analysis, and latent viable analysis, which have been widely applied to science and engineering.
He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the highest science and technology award in Shaanxi Province. He is owner of the Tan Kan Kee Science Award in Science Technology, Hua Luogeng prize in mathematics and the winner of CSIAM SUBuchin Applied Mathematics Prize. He delivered a 45-minute sectional talk at International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2010) upon the invitation of the congress committee.
Prof. XU Zongben was the vice-president of Xi’an Jiaotong University. He currently makes several important services for government and professional societies, including the director for Pazhou Lab (Guangzhou), director for the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analytics, a member of National Big Data Expert Advisory Committee and the Strategic Advisory Committee member of National Open Innovation Platform for New Generation of Artificial Intelligence.
Prof. Haoxing Xu
Dean, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Zhejiang University Professor (Adjunct), Department of MCD Biology, the University of Michigan
Haoxing Xu received his undergraduate degree from Peking University, Ph.D from Georgia State University, and postdoctoral training with David Clapham at Children's Hospital Boston. He then joined the University of Michigan in 2007 where he is a professor at the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. He is currently a Chair Professor at Liangzhu Laboratory & Zhejiang University Medical Center, and Dean of School of Basic Medical Sciences, Zhejiang University. Dr. Xu has received multiple faculty awards including the Sloan Fellowship (Alfred P. Sloan Foundation), the Presidential Early Career Award for Sciences and Engineers (White House), and Henry Russel Award and Faculty Recognition Award (University of Michigan). In 2015, Dr. Xu co-founded Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on “Organellar Channels and Transporters”.
Dr. SUN Wenguang
Director of Statistics in the Center for Data Science at Zhejiang University
Dr. SUN Wenguang is a professor of Statistics in the Center for Data Science at Zhejiang University (ZJU, 2022-present).
