Xiashi Lanterns started from Qin dynasty, thrived in Tang dynasty. The Lantern Festival in Town of Xiashi has a reputation of The First Lantern Show in south of the Yangtze River. We hope to show this special and agelong Chinese Culture to both Chinese and foreign readers to build a bridge to communicate with each other, and show our respect for this historical and cultural heritage as well.
During the Lantern Show, a Lecture by a heir of Nonmaterial Culture—you can learn how to make a lantern during the lecture, several lanterns and a photography competition will be held in the library. More information will be released by email as well as on library website: lib.intl.zju.edu.cn.
