In marking the centenary of the Communist Party of China and to build a faculty & staff team with strong beliefs, high moral character and professional competence, further enhance the patriotism and love of the university, and stimulate the mission of building a world-class university, the International Campus Summer Training was held in Taihe—Zhejiang University's second hometown and Jinggangshan—the revolutionary holy site on July 17 to July 21. The training was led by Wang Yufen, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of International Campus, and a total of 32 Chinese and foreign faculty from "2021 Faculty Capacity Building Program" and “Staff Evening Class (2021)” participated in the training.
The Opening Ceremony
This training is rich in content and diverse in form, including Topic Trainings, Field Trips, On-site Classes etc. In just 5 days, the trainees visited the Westward Migration sites in Taihe and the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, Xiaojing Red Army Hospital and Red Army Martyrs Tomb, Mao Zedong's former residence, Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum, the defending war site in Huang Yangjie, and the Zhu Mao Red Army's grain picking trail. Besides, they have in-depth study of "Zhejiang University Westward Migration History" "Jinggangshan Struggle and Jinggangshan Spirit", recall the revolutionary history, deeply appreciate the great Jinggangshan spirit, and carry out "Spark Night Teaching Skills Improvement Training" outside the campus for the first time.

With a hundred years of wind and rain, the original mind is like a rock. When the trainees set their feet in the red land of Taihe and Jinggangshan, stand in front of the solemn historical sites, feel every cultural relic, photo and story, sense the noble revolutionary spirit of the martyrs, their mind was struck again and again, the emotion was infected again and again, and the heart was shaken again and again.
Trainees have said, "The International Campus is the forerunner of the international collaborative education model, we also have to dare to innovate. The revolutionary optimism spirit has significance in the initial period of the International Campus, as well as the early stage of career development of young scholars." "In just a few days, we walk into the hearts of the martyrs and feel the power of faith. The revolutionary martyrs were first as ordinary people and then as heroes. " "I have a deep understanding of the former president's famous saying 'the goal of university education is not only to create many experts such as engineers and doctors, but also to develop the leadership with public loyalty and perseverance, taking on great responsibilities, presiding over the conduct, transferring the national destiny'. As faculty, we should not only bear such responsibilities, but also educate the next generation to assume historical responsibilities."
The years are marked, and the spirits are immortal. Through the training, the trainees draw valuable spiritual wealth from the older generation of Zhejiang University, nourish the heart with the Jinggangshan spirit left behind by the revolutionary forefathers. Standing at the historical intersection of the "two hundred years" goal, all the faculty and staff will be firm in their ideals and beliefs, strengthen the ideological and operational consciousness of keeping the initial mind of educating, combine the heritage of the spirits with the practical work, and actively contribute to the construction of the international collaborative education model.
