On the morning of March 29, the acceptance meeting of the 2016-2020 "Double First-class" initiative fund project, "International Campus Initiative Plan", was held in the Administration Building. Professor HE Lianzhen, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Dean of the International Campus, and Prof. OUYANG Hongwei, Vice Dean of the International Campus attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting was presided over by LI Min, Director of the Office of the Global Engagement.
On behalf of the Campus, Prof. OUYANG expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to the experts. The International Campus utilized the "Double First-class" funds to leverage social funds, and constantly improves the campus infrastructure, talents team, and experimental platform; great results have been achieved in students cultivation and benefits have been brought to the society. He exclaimed that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the International Campus will make further improvements in terms of introducing high-level talents, enlarging the student enrollment scale, and improving the quality of education. He also expected that ZJUI could continually support the International Campus and continuously promote its high-quality development.
Next, Lou Jianqing, Deputy Director of Development and Planning Department, introduced the project acceptance content and relevant requirements. The project acceptance expert group, composed of WU Hongying, director of Department of General Affairs, and experts from Laboratory and Equipment Management Department, Talents Office, and relevant departments, listened to the project report, and conducted on-site inspection of the use of experimental equipment and informatization construction.
Experts unanimously agreed that the implementation of the "International Campus Initiative Plan" is of great significance to the improvement of ZJU’s overall internationalization level, global influence and international reputation. The Campus has made a lot of explorations and achieved good results in the construction of international collaboration models, global talents introduction, international talents cultivation, efficient management of remote campus, and the international first-class campus construction. In summary, the project evaluation result is "excellent". At the same time, experts put forward suggestions on further improving project management, including increasing talents introduction, further strengthening management and improving performance evaluation.
At the end of the meeting, professor HE Lianzhen made a speech. She said that the "Double First-class" initiative funds had well supported the high-level and high-quality development of the International Campus in the initial stage of its construction. The Campus should fully take the suggestions of experts in the new round of “Double First-class” plan, combine with the implementation of the Campus’s “14th Five-Year Plan”, to further build consensus and systematic planning, and earnestly promote the sustainable and qualitative development, and make greater contributions in serving national strategy, improving ZJU’s internationalization level and empower local economic and social development.
