On February 1, 2021, the Fall-Winter Semester Meeting was held on the International Campus to discuss and arrange the rectification work required by the inspection group, as well as plan the main tasks for 2021.
The meeting in the morning focused on discussing the improvement measures suggested by the ZJU inspection group. The measures proposed by the offices in charge of the Tasks were reported. Prof. HE Lianzhen, Vice President of ZJU, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee, and Dean of the International Campus stressed that we should have a deep understanding of the significance of the internal inspection and take the problems seriously. Prof. HE also emphasized that the rectification work should be carried out in a timely manner. We should also combine efficiency with the long-term mechanism in the rectification work, and take the Main Tasks of the Campus into account.
The afternoon session was mainly about the 2021 Main Tasks of the Campus, which each office, Institute, and research center reported to the meeting. Prof. OUYANG Hongwei, the Executive Dean of the International Campus, gave a speech on postgraduate education and scientific research. Prof. OUYANG pointed out that in the new era and with new models of education and scientific research, the new concept of development should be creation, not choice. In the period of the “14th Five-Year Plan”, the exploration of the postgraduate education model and the research platform system in the context of international cooperation and interdisciplinary should be our priority.
Prof. HE then interpreted the 2021 Main Tasks of the Campus from the following aspects. In the year of 2021, firstly, the Campus will further serve China’s education opening up strategy, regional development strategy, and ZJU’s global opening strategy. Secondly, we need to enhance the quality and efficiency of Sino-foreign cooperation, be further development-oriented in governance, and stimulate new motivation in improving the internationalization. Furthermore, we need to further strengthen Party building.
In the summary, Prof. HE emphasized that in this new stage we must maintain a sense of crisis, responsibility, mission and keep pace with the times; strive to build a model of international education cooperation that beats expectations and could be learned from by others.
Attendees at the Meeting included all key administrators of the Campus and those in charge of each office, department, Institute, and research center.
