On the evening of September 24, the Third Student Congress of the International Campus was successfully held in the Multi-function Hall. 69 representatives of undergraduate and graduate students attended the Congress.
Prof. HE Lianzhen, Vice President of ZJU, Dean of the International Campus and Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the International Campus, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Prof. HE pointed out that since the establishment of the Student Union, it has carried forward the spirit and the maxim of ZJU’s Student Union, “Serve you Wholeheartedly”. During the last three years, the Student Union has united the students and led them to be the best among the young. Gratifying achievements have been made in personal development, providing services for students, developing campus culture, and strengthening organizational structure. She also expressed the hope that the Student Union would promote the concept of “by the students, of the students, for the students”. Meanwhile, she encouraged all students on the Campus to remember the original aspiration and their responsibility and honor as ZJUers, to seize the opportunities of this era, this Campus and life, and strive to be a true pioneer in the implementation of the “Double First-class Initiative” of Zhejiang University.
Over the past year, the Student Union of the International Campus have optimized the working model against a background of internationalization and made some achievements in ideological guidance, organizational structure, student services, campus culture development, and so on. Meanwhile, a thorough students’ work system and a series of inspirational activities have been established. Besides this, the Student Union has explored building bridges between Chinese and international students and interacting with the Student Unions of other world-class universities in China.
The solicitation of proposals for the 3rd session of the Student Union was reported, and the new version of the “Constitution of the Student Union” was deliberated upon and approved. The 3rd Presidium/Bureau of the Student Union and the representatives who are going to attend the 33rd session of the Student Congress of ZJU, the 33rd session of the Postgraduates Congress, and the 19th session of the Doctoral Congress were elected. All ZJUers were called upon to carry forward the spirit of Zhejiang University - seeking truth and pursuing innovation. The Student Union should be rooted in the students, serve the students, unite the students, facilitate the development of the international education cooperation model, and contribute to the implementation of the “Double First-class Initiative” of ZJU as well as to the nation.
CHEN Xiangru, executive chairman of Zhejiang University Graduate Student Union, attended the meeting to offer his congratulations and deliver a speech. The leadership of the International Campus and other representatives of the Institutes and Residential Colleges attended the meeting.
