Master Tsui opened the event by delivering a welcome speech and introducing the meaning of High Table Dinner. This traditional activity of residential colleges was originated at universities in the United Kingdom, including Oxford University and Cambridge University. The purpose of the event is to cultivate students' international etiquette and broaden their horizons through speeches by and interactions with guest speakers. Master Tsui indicated that High Table Dinner would continue to be a significant exploration for the whole-person education at Residential College No.1 and encouraged students to make new friends and learn from each other at this event.

The seating was arranged in a way that students sat next to those in different majors and classes. A number of Campus teachers and Residential College adjunct advisors were invited to dine with the students. Faculty members and students conversed freely on common topics of interest in the harmonious atmosphere. The students continued to have opportunities to interact with the guests after the dinner. Through this activity, students have become better acquainted with each other and improved their international etiquette and social skills.

A total of nearly 300 Chinese and foreign students self-registered to attend the dinner. Residential College No.1 plans to hold High Table Dinners periodically in the future.
