On the morning of April 27, Prof. WU Zhaohui, president of Zhejiang University, and Brain P. Schmidt, vice-chancellor and president of the Australian National University (ANU), had a virtual meeting and signed a Memorandum of Understanding for university-level partnership, marking the beginning of an official partnership between the two universities. Also present at the MoU signing ceremony was Prof. HE Lianzhen, vice president of Zhejiang University.
“In 2018, President Schmidt and I attended Beijing Forum together. I am tremendously delighted to see you virtually four years later,” said WU Zhaohui. He introduced the latest development of Zhejiang University, pointing out that amid the major changes unseen in a century and in the face of the once-in-a-century pandemic, Zhejiang University would adhere to the path of global and open development and address global challenges with international partners. “We look forward to joining hands with ANU to make more contributions to quality education, knowledge innovation and global prosperity,” President Wu added.
Brain Schmidt extended his cordial congratulations on ZJU’s 125th anniversary. He stressed that leading universities have a unique responsibility to deliver not only world-class education, but also advance the importance of research and learning in developing policy, economic and technological solutions for our societies and the world. He hoped that the substantial cooperation between ZJU International Business School and ANU College of Business and Economics will play a leading role in promoting a diversity of exchanges and cooperation in more disciplines.
HE Lianzhen put forward her suggestions on cooperation in the next stage, including the master’s program in digital transformation and entrepreneurship and cooperation in other subjects, such as public administration, law and mathematics. BEN Shenglin, dean of ZJU International Business School, and Steven Roberts, dean of the ANU College of Business and Economics, reviewed the progress of the master’s program in digital transformation and entrepreneurship and introduced the future plan to promote cooperation. The meeting was co-chaired by LI Min, director of the ZJU Office of Global Engagement, and Amanda Barry, director of the ANU International Strategy & Future Students Division.
