Only July 6, CHEN Jianzhong, Deputy Director of Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, led a delegation to the International Campus and held a review of the construction of the international collaborative education model. Professor HE Lianzhen, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC ZJU Committee, and Vice President of ZJU, and XU Honglian, Deputy Secretary of CPC Haining Municipal Committee and Mayor of Haining city, participated in the review. The meeting was moderated by Professor OUYANG Hongwei, Dean of the International Campus.
CHEN Jianzhong highly acclaimed the accomplishments in the model construction. He stated that the model construction was an important initiative of ZJU and Haining to thoroughly implement national strategies and the spirit of the 15th CPC Zhejiang Provincial Congress, and that the ZJU-Haining collaboration had already laid a solid foundation for it. He hoped that the two sides would work together more closely, strengthen planning, and accelerate the implementation of major projects. CHEN Jianzhong highlighted the need to advance the high-quality integrated development in the course of the model construction and establish a development paradigm characterized by online-offline integration, university-local-government integration, and domestic-international integration. He pointed out that it was necessary to establish a market-oriented evaluation mechanism, recruit, and nurture high-level talents, accelerate the construction of a group of high-level platforms, work to provide high-quality supporting services and construct facilities, and drive high-level industrial development with high-level science-education integration, to create a science-education-industry-city integrated development model. He also urged, as a next step, to establish a work promotion mechanism for the model construction, in which Zhejiang province, Zhejiang University and Haining jointly build a world-renowned international collaborative education model.
Professor HE Lianzhen expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Development and Reform Commission for the long-term support. She stated that the construction of the international collaborative education model was a major strategic choice jointly made by ZJU and Haining in face of the overall strategic vision of the great rejuvenation, and fully demonstrated that ZJU and Haining kept in mind the top priorities of the country and had the courage to serve the national and regional development. She said that it was not only an honor, but a responsibility to advance the model construction, and pledged that ZJU and Haining would seize this major opportunity to build the model into a shining “golden name card”. Professor HE pointed out that ZJU and Haining city would fully leverage their respective strengths, seize the opportunity to build the international collaborative education model, develop and implement plans, and make new contributions to Haining’s social and economic development and ZJU’s endeavor to build a leading world-class university. She hoped that Zhejiang province would give continued care and support to the model construction.
Professor OUYANG Hongwei made a presentation on the ZJU-Haining collaboration on implementing a number of major projects under the framework of the model construction. XU Honglian presented the progress in the ZJU-Haining collaboration and the next-step work plan for advancing the model construction. Other leaders of the International Campus, Jiaxing and Haining attended the meeting.
Before the meeting, the delegation visited ZJE and ZJUI, and was briefed on the development of the Institutes.
