“Be Here, Be Happy”

On March 3rd, an English mental health lecture entitled Be here, Be Happy was held at the multifunctional hall of the Residential College No.3. Prof. ZHU Yihong, the Deputy Director of the Mental Health Education and Counseling Center, ZJU was invited to present the lecture.

Through a series of pictures and data, Prof. ZHU vividly depicted the impact of mental health on learning, daily life and relationship, which revealing the importance of maintaining a positive mental attitude. Based on her research and rich consulting experience, Prof. ZHU proposed “Happiness is right here and now”, and shared the strategies that can help to manage emotions in a healthy and helpful way, such as accepting yourself, appreciating others and putting yourself in other’s position. It is important to take action against negative emotions. For those who are unmotivated, fatigued, or overwhelmed with life, try to draw your Tree of Life, then you will find how many resources you have here and now.” That’s Prof. Zhu always advocated.

Having been enlightened by the lecture, attendees shared their confusion in the aspects of emotional problems, interpersonal relationships, peer pressure, academic pressure, intercultural communication, etc. Prof. ZHU patiently give them the guidance and explanation from the perspective of mental health.

This lecture was chaired by MA Yuguang, the director of Office of Student Affairs. Part of student tutors, counselors also attended.
