The International Campus held its 12th High Table Dinner in the Multimedia Hall on the evening of November 17th. Professor HE Lianzhen, Master of Laitong College, hosted the event and extended a warm welcome to all attendees. Professor LI Min, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee and Vice Dean of the International Campus, attended the dinner. FANG Yi, an esteemed alumnus of the Chu Kochen Honors College of Zhejiang University and the founder and chairman of Daily Interactive Co., Ltd., was the guest of honor.

In her opening remarks, Professor HE praised the service of Fang, encouraging the students to follow him in striving for a deep understanding of innovation ability, entrepreneurial spirit, social responsibility, and homeland sentiment. She also encouraged them to draw wisdom and experience from exchanges with mentors and teachers from diverse backgrounds to foster a broader perspective in pursuing their ideals and values. She expressed her hope that the students would always pursue Laitong College’s educational philosophy of being “Liberal, Affable, International, Tolerant, Open, Noble, and Generous” and would leverage the college’s inclusive cultural environment and diverse resources to become well-rounded and cross-cultural individuals.

FANG Yi reflected fondly on the support he had received from his mentors and alma mater during his time at Zhejiang University, as well as his personal two-decade journey as an entrepreneur. He particularly emphasized the importance of “interdisciplinary exploration” and “holistic learning.” FANG leads his team in utilizing data intelligence technology to benefit society and people’s livelihoods, leveraging big data to aid pandemic prevention and control and promoting its innovative applications in smart transportation, renewable energy generation, and even medical research. Throughout his distinguished career, he has always acted with a strong sense of responsibility and a mission to serve society. FANG also encouraged students to apply cross-boundary thinking to solve real-world problems and to be fearless in crossing boundaries in knowledge and action.

PENG Jiahua, who served as a table leader, said afterwards, “This High Table Dinner provided me with the privilege of gaining new knowledge through engaging exchanges and experiencing the profound wisdom of alumnus FANG Yi. I also deeply appreciated the outstanding musical performances by the students. It was an unprecedented feast for the senses—visual, auditory, and culinary”. Usama Muhammad Arif, who was attending a High Table Dinner for the first time, was deeply impressed by the guest's sharing: “It was an inspiring lecture. The arrangements were very good. I really appreciate the Residential College for providing translation earbuds.” LIU Wenting, a representative of the Laitong College Student Committee, said, “I was honored to attend this High Table Dinner hosted by Laitong College. The atmosphere was both vibrant and dignified, filled with intellectual exchange and cultural fusion. Professor HE Lianzhen’s use of the wisdom of renowned figures as a guide inspired us to continuously refine our skills and prepare for future achievements. This experience truly embodied the warmth and supportive environment of the Residential College.”

More than 20 mentors and over 180 students from Weixue, Guantong, and Laitong Colleges joined together in participating in the High Table Dinner.
