On November 9th, in observance of the 33rd National Fire Prevention Day, the International Campus launched a series of fire safety-themed activities throughout the month. These events aimed to enhance the implementation of fire safety responsibilities and raise fire safety awareness among faculty, staff and students.
On the noon of November 27th, the Campus organized its annual comprehensive fire emergency drill, focusing on the Business School and the Administration Building. Faculty, staff, and students from these buildings participated in the evacuation exercise, while freshmen and new faculty members observed. The drill simulated a fire on the third floor of the business school. Upon activation of the fire alarm, security personnel and building managers promptly responded, initiating the emergency plan and organizing an orderly evacuation. The campus hospital and property management provided on-site support, while the Haining City Fire Rescue Team swiftly entered the premises to extinguish the fire and perform high-rise rescue operations. The drill was conducted in both Chinese and English, with all procedures completed within the scheduled timeframe.
Following the drill, the Haining City Fire Rescue Brigade and Zhejiang University's Security Department provided their feedback. CHEN Liang, Vice Dean of the International Campus noted that the simulation closely mirrored real-life scenarios, successfully completing all planned exercises and achieving the intended outcomes. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to enforcing fire safety responsibilities, addressing potential hazards through deeper investigation and mitigation, enhancing fire safety education, and improving emergency response capabilities to ensure the safety of all campus members. Moving forwards, the campus will further strengthen its efforts in identifying and addressing safety risks, providing a solid foundation for high-quality development.
Additionally, the International Campus collaborated with the Haining City Fire Rescue Brigade to bring fire trucks onto the campus, where they shared fire safety knowledge and, at the invitation of the residential colleges, conducted on-site inspections, offering professional guidance.
