My research mainly focuses on the mechanobiology of cell division, which is to study how cells sense and generate mechanical forces to divide. My lab uses multidisciplinary approaches such as high resolution live-cell imaging, biophysical tools and gene manipulation techniques to understand the mechanics and dynamics of cell contractility during division. My lab also aims to study the pathological consequences when cellular mechanosensing is mis-regulated in aging-related disorders such as cancer and osteoarthritis.
