2019-02-17

Kaiwen Hong, a sophomore mechanical engineering student of ZJUI, was invited to give a presentation at the 14th Asian Computer-Assisted Surgery Conference held in Shanghai Jiaotong University in November 2018, and published a paper "A Preliminary Design of a Robotic System for Kinaesthetic Training of Surgical Tasks". The paper was selected as one of the 13 top papers after peer reviewed and was recommended to the academic journal The Journal of Engineering, IET, and was officially published a few days ago. Yue Sun, another ZJUI sophomore mechanical engineering student, and Jiale He, a sophomore computer engineering student, are the collaborators, they were all instructed by Professor Yang Liangjing.

This paper is mainly about the preliminary design concept of the robotic surgery training system, which includes designing the parameters according to the kinematics principle and the operation path requirements, simulating through the simulation software, as well as expanding the robot arm drive, sense and control functions by using the existing open source robot arm development kit. All the design concepts are verified by experiment.
