On May 12, the founding ceremony of Haining Base of the China Center for Local Governance and Rule of Law Development, Zhejiang University was held on the International Campus of Zhejiang University.
Prof. HE Lianzhen, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Zhejiang University, and XU Honglian, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Haining Municipal Committee and Mayor of Haining unveiled the plaque to mark the official opening of the base.
ZHU Shaoping, Deputy Secretary-General of Jiaxing Municipal Party Committee, and Politics and Law Committee, ZHUGE Yang, Deputy Secretary of Communist Party Committee of International Campus, ZJU and relevant leaders of Haining,the directors of the political and legal systems and safety construction department in Haining, the directors and representatives of teachers and students of the Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School , and the directors of the International Campus of Zhejiang University, attended the founding ceremony.
Prof. HE Lianzhen congratulated the establishment of the base.
She said that in recent years, the strategic cooperation between Zhejiang University and Haining City has been progressively deepened. The completion of the research center, Haining Base is another significant achievement in the process of comprehensive strategic cooperation between the city and university, which will further contribute to the improvement of the social governance system and the safety construction in Haining.
In the future, she expected that the base can focus on the development orientation and goals, deeply integrate academic resources with local judicial resources，further expand new vision of the rule of law with pragmatic research , to put forward the new proposition, and to cope with difficulties at the grass-roots level management, and transform the theoretical research results into the vivid grass-roots level practice based on XI Jinping’s Thoughts on the rule of law, as the gift of 100th anniversary of the CPC founding.
During his speech, ZHU Shaoping gave high praise and fully affirmed the achievements of Haining in social governance and the rule of law construction, hoping that based on the set-up of the base and the advantages of academic and teaching resources of Zhejiang University, Haining can promote system innovation including digital reform and district social governance, to build a recognizable "golden name card" for the modernization of municipal governance in area such as "local governance" and "grassroots governance", "construction of the rule of law", to be on the forefront of the city, the province and even the whole country, and to actively contribute Haining’s efforts. .
During the meeting, HU Ming, the Executive Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School, and WANG Jiankun, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and the Political and Legal Committee of Haining, signed the agreement of the base construction together.
Established by Zhejiang University Guanghua Law School, China Center for Local Governance and Rule of Law Development, Zhejiang University takes the practical experience of grassroots social governance as the research object and carries out theoretical research on the construction of the rule of law in the new era.
Haining Base is the first base set up by the Research Center in the county area of China, which will provide intellectual support for Haining to strengthen legal research and promote social governance ability in the future.
After the ceremony, the director of China Center for Local Governance and Rule of Law Development, Zhejiang University, the professor of Zhejiang University Guanghua Law school of GE Hongyi made a lecture entitled "learning XI Jinping’s Thoughts of the rule of law and deepening the modernization of social governance", shared the social development of management thought in XI Jinping’s Thoughts on the rule of law system, and illustrated the modernization of social governance, introduced the successful experience of grass-roots governance from the angle of the relation between nation and society, which brought a vivid on-site experience class to the audiences.
