Information literacy and adapting to the future of higher education

2020-06-19

The evaluation of “Decorating the Online Office” -- the academic culture construction activity challenge and online office seminar -- was held in the Administrative Building on the afternoon of June 17. Professor Fu Qiang, the Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Vice Dean of the International Campus, attended the meeting and gave feedback.

Due to the epidemic, work for the new semester at the International Campus moved to the online office platform, Teams, a tool with internationalized application scenarios and good document collaboration function, which has allowed all of the Campus work to progress steadily. The online office was well received by departments and was still frequently utilized after work resumed offline. Therefore, 9 contestants entered the activity challenge: the International Business School and 8 Campus departments, such as the Office of Campus Development and Management and the Office of Human Resources. All the contestants prepared with great care and shared their construction achievements and experiences with Teams from all aspects including efficient communication, tool integration, innovative applications, and specification guidelines. Participants learned from each other and discussed the common problems of the online office.

Professor Fu fully appreciated the achievements made by each unit on the “online office”" construction activities, and outlined the requirements for the next step. He pointed out that the internationalized aspect was of great significance to the international development of the Campus. Internationalizing the software and platform showed the International Campus to be in line with world-class universities in the ways of communication and cooperation. At the same time, Campus faculty members’ high-level international information literacy was a significant indicator in adapting to the future of higher education.

There are three prizes awarded in this activity: the deep application prize, the best promotion prize and the innovative feature prize.
