On August 31 and September 1, the study session on the theme of “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind” and the mid-year meeting were held in the Administration Building on the International Campus. The meeting focused on the demands of reform and the development of the International Campus. A far-reaching discussion on the issues of, for example, talent cultivation, research and teaching coordination, Zhejiang University-Haining cooperation, the construction of a model of international education cooperation was held by the administrative leaders. Professor He Lianzhen, Vice President of Zhejiang University and Dean of the International Campus, and Professor Fu Qiang, Assistant President of Zhejiang University, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Vice Dean of the International Campus, attended the meeting and gave thematic reports.
Professor He conveyed the key points of ZJU’s mid-year meeting and gave a thematic report entitled “Taking root in China and being a model of international education cooperation”. At the meeting, Professor He reviewed the original initiative that led to the campus construction and the achievements of recent years. She called for the development of the International Campus into a model of international education cooperation. She emphasized that the International Campus should further strengthen the cultivation of talent and the coordination of research and teaching, promote cooperation between Zhejiang University and Haining, and facilitate the transfer of scientific and technical achievements. She also made clear that the current situation regarding talent cultivation should be improved. Meanwhile, the Campus should optimize the teaching, the organizing, as well as the supporting.
Professor Fu made a thematic report entitled “Make the commitment to the mission of building a model of international education cooperation”. Professor Fu pointed out that faced with unprecedented opportunities, the new development pattern of the International Campus had been established. At the next stage, the International Campus should continue to strengthen its sense of responsibility, further promote the Spirit of the Red Boat, persevere in innovation and development, put the Spirit of Pursuing Truth into practice, and always be compatible with diverse cultures. Furthermore, we need to make full use of scientific thinking to develop the International Campus in a more rigorous way, with foresight, initiative and creativity.
According to the requirements of ZJU, the format of the meeting mainly comprised collective learning, discussion and thematic speeches.
