Here Come the New Students!

On August 20, freshmen undergraduates of International Campus, ZJU came to the campus, bringing in another fresh batch of aspiring students.

At 8:00 a.m., with the arrival of the first batch of freshmen, the orientation volunteers and staff immediately got busy enthusiastically welcoming freshmen. After going through temperature measurements, and luggage disinfection at the East Gate, the new students headed to the one-stop check-in point – No. 3 Residential College.

The volunteers gave detailed explanation the check-in process for freshmen and carefully examined the materials. In addition, the check-in data of 2022 undergraduate students were updated and shown on a large screen in real time.

Professor HE Lianzhen, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of International Campus, professor OUYANG Hongwei, Dean of International Campus and other leaders of the campus first went to the East Gate to pay a visit. After a brief exchange with the parents, they went to the check-in point and the residential college to visit the freshmen and communicated cordially with the freshmen representatives.

During the communication, the students talked about the reasons for choosing International Campus: A high-level school platform that can help broaden international perspective; the distinctive features of Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school and the strong learning atmosphere; a wide range of facilities and a beautiful living environment, which enables students to enjoy first-class services, etc.

He Lianzhen pointed out that Zhejiang University adheres to the fundamental task of establishing moral education and cultivation of the people, outlined in the KAQ2.0 concept which takes students as the center to carry out all-round cultivation and education. International Campus features full English teaching and Sino-foreign cooperation, with a fast and intense learning pace. All freshmen are expected to be ready as soon as possible, make good planning, strengthen self-management, and communicate with teachers, tutors, and counselors when encountering difficulties, in which the campus will provide students with all-round support and assistance.

Ouyang Hongwei stated that International Campus has explored and established a "scholarly undergraduate" training model by integrating the advantages of Chinese and Western education to cultivate students' independent learning and critical thinking ability. At the same time, International Campus actively encourages students to develop their interests and expand their horizons, hoping that after four years of study, students can grow into a person that possesses uniqueness and elegance.

At the end of the meeting, campus leaders celebrated the birthdays of freshmen who recently had their birthday, and presented them with books and campus souvenirs, encouraging them to become a "ZJUer" with a sense of family, international vision, global competitiveness, and global responsibility.
