July 30 to August 4, Professor Tawfique Hasan, Deputy Head of Electrical Engineering Department, and Prof. Sherry Huang, Material Science and Metallurgy Department, University of Cambridge, visited International Campus, Zhejiang University. They gave lectures on "Nanostructured Sensors Enabled by Computational Algorithms" and “Biofabrication for Bioelectronics” respectively. The event was hosted by Prof. Luo Jikui, Director of the International Research Center for Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Haining.

Professor Hasan introduced the synthesis method for 2D material printable inks and their applications in a type of printable gas sensor array for detection of multiple gases. By utilizing computational algorithms based on Murray's Law and Fourier transforms, the sensor array could have much improved performance and ability for multiple gases detection with high resolution and selectivity. Professor Tawfique Hasan showcased ultra-miniaturized spectrometers exploiting nanowires and 2d material heterojunctions, these are the smallest spectrometers ever developed.

Professor Huang introduced recent achievements in biofabrication, bioengineering, biomaterials design/synthesis and their applications in E-textile.

Over 50 academic staff and students attended. After the lecture, the professors engaged in warm discussion with staff and students to exchange ideas on the topics.

The lecture focused on cutting-edge research in the fields of nanosensors, nanooptoelectronics and bioengineering, deepening the research exchange and collaboration between ZJU and the University of Cambridge in interdisciplinary areas. The successful organization of the lecture is beneficial for us to establish a platform for international cooperation, jointly driving the prosperity and development of the relevant research fields.
