In the evening of September 26, the Inauguration Ceremony of the Master of Guantong College (one of the residential colleges) was held. Prof. FU Qiang, Vice President of Zhejiang University, presented the letter of appointment to Prof. YING Yibin, a distinguished Changjiang Scholar recognized by the Ministry of Education of China and an expert in agricultural engineering. Prof. LI Hanying, Dean of International Campus delivered a speech. The ceremony was co-hosted by QU Lijuan, Vice Dean of International Campus, and Shon Haksheng, of South Korea, an undergraduate majoring in Global Communication and Management from the 2022 intake.
Prof. YING Yibin also gave a special lecture entitled "Learning and Conducting, Pursuing Excellence with Soul." He encouraged students to ponder the profound questions posed by Prof. CHU Kochen, the former president of Zhejiang University. Prof. YING emphasized the importance of persistent effort in achieving comprehensive development and social impact. He urged Guantong students to adopt a long-term perspective, nurture an independent mind, think critically, foster a rich inner life, and embody noble qualities. The key message was to pursue academic and career success and, more importantly, to become individuals with insight, wisdom and a decent soul.
Following the presentation, students actively engaged in asking questions and sharing thoughts. Prof. YING patiently addressed academic, scientific research, and personal development inquiries.
The staff at Guantong College also took the opportunity to meet with students, expressing their commitment to focusing on student growth and providing ongoing support in the future.
The leadership team of the International Campus, the dean’s assistants, the heads of each institute and each department, the staff at Guantong College, and more than 500 students and faculty from various residential colleges participated in the activity.

He successively served as the Dean of College of Agricultural Engineering, Executive Associate Dean of College of Biosystems Engineering and Food Science, Executive Associate Dean of both the Chu Kochen Honors College and the International Campus at Zhejiang University, Vice President of Zhejiang University, and President of Zhejiang A&F University. He served as the Co-Convener of the Agricultural Engineering Discipline Assessment Group at Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He holds the position of the Vice President of both Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology and Development Committee of Zhejiang University, the Vice President of both Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering and Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery, the Vice Director of Agricultural Engineering Program Teaching Steering Committee of Ministry of Education. Professor Ying’s research focuses on sensing technology and robotics for agriculture. He obtained one Second Prize of National Award for Technological Invention, two First Prizes of National Award for Teaching Achievement, one First Prize of Natural Science and two First Prizes of Technological Invention of Ministry of Education. He was the advisor for one National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award and three National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award Nominations. He is elected as Highly Cited Chinese Researchers released by Elsevier.
