On October 31st, The Third Haining Sub Forum of The Orient Forum of Zhejiang University was held on the International Campus. Experts and scholars from around the country gathered to discuss the construction of the international collaborative education model and the development of high-quality talent.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor FU Qiang, Vice President of Zhejiang University, emphasized that the university and Haining city have been working together to deepen their partnership and promote the development of the city's economy. He hoped that the Forum would provide a platform for experts and scholars to share their ideas and work together to build a new type of international collaborative education model.
CAO Guoliang, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Haining City expressed his hope that the conference would help to accelerate the development of the city's high-quality talents and promote the city's economic growth. He also introduced the city's efforts to build an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem and its plans to develop the city into a hub for international talent.
QU Lijuan, Vice Dean of International Campus, introduced the development of the Campus and the construction of international collaborative education model.
The Forum was hosted by Dean of Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences of Zhejiang University, Professor ZHOU Jianghong.
Professor YU Jianxing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Gongshang University and Dean of the Institute of Social Governance of Zhejiang University, chaired the seminar.
At the seminar, Professor YAO Kai, Director of the Global Science and Innovation Talent Development Research Centre of Fudan University, Professor ZHI Tingjin, Deputy Director of the Training Centre for Secondary School Principals of the Ministry of Education and the first Executive Director of the National Institute of Macroeconomic Policies for Education of East China Normal University, Professor CHEN Jin, Director of the Research Centre for Technological Innovation of Tsinghua University, and Professor WU Jiebing of the School of Public Affairs of Zhejiang University gave keynote speeches on Talent Leadership, Educational Strength, Strategy of Integrating the Industry, Schools, Cities and the High-quality development of counties.
WANG Yiming, Executive Vice Mayor of Haining City, Professor KAN Yu, Dean of the College of Education of Zhejiang University, Professor BEN Shenglin, Dean of the International Business School of Zhejiang University, Professor CHEN Lijun, President of Zhejiang Talent Development Research Institute, and Professor XU Xianchun, Vice President of China Academy of Science and Education Strategy of Zhejiang University, participated in a roundtable discussion on the "Zhejiang University-Haining Model" of integrating the four chains for the holistic development of science, education, industry, and urbanization.
The Forum was jointly organized by Zhejiang University and the People's Government of Haining City. It is co-hosted by Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences of Zhejiang University, Haining International Collaborative Education Development Office, the Development and Reform Bureau of Haining City, and the Federation of Social Sciences of Haining City. The International Campus of Zhejiang University and the Institute of Social Governance of Zhejiang University are jointly responsible for the event. More than 100 participants attended the event, including academics, business leaders, and government officials.
The Orient Forum of Zhejiang University has been held annually since 2003, and is considered one of the most prestigious academic forums in the humanities and social sciences at Zhejiang University. The forum adheres to ZJU's tradition of "seeking truth and innovation" and the pursuit of the spirit of academic ascendancy, with "openness, being at the forefront, interdisciplinary, comprehensive research" as the purpose. This involves bringing together many domestic and foreign masters, and celebrities, to disseminate knowledge, bring interpretation to ideas, with enlightenment and wisdom. The forum consists of a main forum and a sub-forum, of which the Haining sub-forum has been held twice before, with the themes of "Haining's Integration into the Yangtze River Delta Integration and Development Strategy" and "High-quality Development of Private Economy" respectively.
