Pursuing Knowledge: Growth in a New Academic Frontier
Though Hayk had never been to China before, he was deeply fascinated by the country's rapid advancements in technology and engineering. The innovative research and rigorous academic environment at iZJU ultimately drew him across borders to pursue his studies.

Hayk approaches his studies with curiosity and a hands-on mindset, exploring not only his major but also interdisciplinary fields. He particularly enjoys applying classroom knowledge to practical projects, such as designing an intelligent access control system in his ECE110 Introduction to Electronics course. "Facing unexpected challenges, my team and I persevered through collaboration and determination, troubleshooting with oscilloscopes until we succeeded," he recalls.

Hayk speaks highly of his international campus experience, praising the engaging teaching styles of professors like Wee-Liat Ong (CS101 Introduction to Computing: Engineering & Science), who inspires him both in and out of class. "ZJUI’s demanding curriculum pushes me to grow, while opportunities to attend conferences and learn from industry leaders enrich my journey," he says. His hard work paid off in 2024 when he was honored as an Outstanding International Student of ZJU.

Cultural Bridge: Connecting Armenia and China
Beyond academics, Hayk actively fosters cultural exchange. As a ZJU recruitment ambassador, he returned to Armenia to organize seminars at schools like The PhysMath School and The Ayb School, sharing ZJUI’s strengths and his life in China with prospective students. "Many Armenian youths know little about these opportunities—I want to change that," he explains.

He also hosts online sessions to introduce Chinese culture and education, deepening cross-cultural understanding.
A Home Away from Home
From Armenian traditions to Chinese festivals and cuisine, Hayk has embraced iZJU as his "second home." Immersed in cultural exchanges, he has gained profound insights into Chinese customs while forming lasting friendships. "Living here lets me experience one of the world’s oldest cultures firsthand," he reflects.
An active member of the ZJUI Branding Center, Hayk captures campus life through photography. He rows with the Guantong team, volunteers at local schools for Chinese New Year celebrations, and enjoys hiking and cooking with friends. "The warmth of the people here reminds me of Armenia," he says. "Professors and classmates alike are approachable and kind."
At iZJU, Hayk has found not just an education, but a community where he truly belongs.
