The procedures for applying for residence permit and internship visa are as follows:

1. Accommodation Registration

Within 24 hours of arrival, report to the campus police station for on-campus accommodation; off-campus residents should register at their local police station.

➢ Required Documents

On-Campus: Passport, 'International Campus, Zhejiang University  Dormitory Agreement'.

Off-Campus: Passport, Rental Agreement, Signed and stamped 'Off-Campus Accommodation Application Form' (Annex 1 in triplicate).

2. Information Update

(1) Accommodation Registration

International students who change their passport number and accommodation address, etc. must re-apply for/update their accommodation registration within 24 hours.

➢ Note: After the passport information is changed, accommodation registration must be reprocessed within 24 hours of receiving the new passport.

(2) Renewal of Residence Permit

If renew passport abroad or any items on the residence permit change during the study at the university, student shall have the relevant information changed with the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau within 10 days after enter the country (you must enter the country with the new and old passports and confirm that the entry stamp is stamped on the new passport, the required documents for obtaining a residence permit can be found in Point 8 of this article).

If renew passport within the country or any items on the residence permit change, student shall have the relevant information changed with the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau within 10 days after receiving the passport. (the required documents for obtaining a residence permit can be found in Point 8 of this article)

3. Applying for a Residence Permit

(1) Students holding an Xl visa: shall apply for a residence permit to the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau, within 30 days from the date of entry in China.

(2) Students with an X2 visa: must apply to the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau for an extension of your stay or apply for a residence permit 7 days before the expiration of the stated stay period on your visa.

(3) Extension of residence permit for students studying on campus: apply for an extension of your residence permit at the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau 30 days before the expiration of the validity period.

(4) SI/S2 visa to private affairs residence permit: Applicants must apply to the the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau for an extension of their stay or apply for a residence permit 7 days before the expiration of the stated stay period on the visa (to visit foreigners working or living in China)

➢ Note

(1) If the residence permit has not been extended beyond the expiry date, the illegal residence shall be subject to the relevant laws and regulations of China.

(2) No extension will be possible for students who are to leave the university for graduation or completion of their course of study.

(3) The Office of International Student Affairs shall not handle the residence permit related matters on legal holidays and winter & summer holidays.

4.Applying for Internship Visa

(1) Full time international students officially registered in the university;

(2) Study hard, achieve academic progress and attendance rates that meet requirements;

(3) Holding a legal and unexpired study residence permit;

(4) Having obtained internship qualifications from relevant enterprises or units, and the internship content is related to major;

(5) The relevant information for participating in internships must be approved by the institute;

(6) If there is a change in student status such as suspension during the internship, the study residence permit must be revoked in accordance with regulations.

(7) If there is frequent absenteeism, significant decline in grades, violation of university rules and regulations or Chinese laws and regulations during the internship, their internship qualification can be cancelled, and relevant departments will impose penalties including visa cancellation in accordance with the law.

(8) Students who have postponed their studies due to academic issues, are not allowed to apply for internships.

5. Passport Loss

If an international student loses his/her passport, he/she should report to the Exit-Entry Administration Department of the public security in the place where the passport is lost, apply for a new passport from the embassy or consulate of his/her country in China, and apply for a residence permit from the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau within 10 days after receiving the new passport. 6. Transferred to Zhejiang University

International students who are transferring from another city in China shall go through the move-out formalities with the Exit-Entry Administration Department of the public security of that city and then go through the move-in formalities with the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau within 10 days from their arrival at the university.

7.Change of Student Status

International students leaving school by reasons such as expulsion, drip out, suspension and retention, etc, must go to the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Haining Public Security Bureau to go through the corresponding visa or residence permit change procedures.
