This course, namely “Analysis of Movie Classics”, aims to enable students to understand the ontology of movie art and guide them to examine and study movies from a global perspective by observing domestic and foreign classic movies and analyzing them from multiple dimensions such as narrative modeling, sound and picture, time and space, montage, long shot, semiotics, aesthetics and international communication.

This course is a degree program for graduate student of Zhejiang University. It includes three parts: a) The history and the key concept of Contemporary Art Aesthetics, the main-stream of the area of modern arts theory and social critical theory. b) Some important theory correlative to the study of public arts and important theoretical progresses in Contemporary Art Aesthetics. c) Some important theorist of contemporary aesthetics, such as Foucault, Deleuze, Agamben, Ranciere.

Audio visual language is the most basic part of the study of film and television creation - the basic law of lens combination, is a creative activity with a high degree of creativity, which includes two aspects: the level of creation and the level of skill. Studies of film and television colour from basic color theory, this course about painting color and film and television colour difference, analyze the colour in physics, physiology, psychology, etc.

This subject applies the theory of film and TV along with the corresponding criticism methods to analyze and interpret the contemporary film and TV culture, especially those recent hot topics in the contemporary film and TV culture. Students are required to read relevant book, watch relevant film and TV works, develop the ability of analyzing film and TV culture.

Cross-cultural communication mainly focuses on the interaction between individuals and groups with different cultural backgrounds. This course includes three parts: a) The history and the key concept of Intercultural Communication. b) The basic fields of intercultural communication， such as anthropology， sociology， Semiotics. c) Some important theory correlative to the study of Intercultural Communication.

This course is a compulsory course for film and television director majors. It pays equal attention to both theory and practice. Students are required to master the basic knowledge, rules and methods of film and television script creation through this course, and to be able to independently adapt and create film and television scripts. This course consists of three parts: the essence of film and television drama, the theory of creation and the operation of film and television drama.

English film research is a research course on the influence of cultural differences in different countries using the same language on film production and communication.The course selects classic movies or TV series by countries with English as their mother tongue or official language including the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand as the course content.

We will get command of audio-visual dialogues and get familiar with the rules of film direction through the practice of Film and TV creation
