Susan Welburn Appointed Co-Chair of Joint Alliance

ZJU-UoE Institute Executive Dean Professor Susan Welburn has been appointed as the first ever co-chair of the UK-China Joint Institute Alliance on March 8th.

The alliance is jointly run by the British Council in China and 19 sets of key university partners from the UK and China, including The University of Edinburgh.

It aims to provide a useful platform to boost the development and management of high-quality joint transnational education (TNE) institutes between the UK and China. In the newly establish co-chair role, Professor Welburn will convene the alliance meetings, ensure the proprieties remain focused and aligned with its objectives, and act as a spokesperson for the alliance.

Professor Welburn chaired the first meeting of the alliance on Friday 9 March where the administration discussed plans for future collaborations and funding management.

Xiaoxiao Liu, Education Services Manager of the British Council said: “We look forward to working closely with Professor Susan Welburn and other members of the alliance in the coming two years, to proactively support the development of Alliance and the transnational education collaboration between UK and China.”
