2026-01-14

On January 20, a mobilization meeting was held at the International Campus to discuss the 2026 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) project applications. The meeting focused on interpreting the latest policy updates and optimizing application strategies, offering comprehensive guidance to faculty throughout the entire NSFC application process to support research breakthroughs. Vice Dean WANG Hongwei, along with faculty representatives, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Wang Hongwei presented a detailed overview of the policy interpretations and work arrangements. He conducted an in-depth analysis of the latest policy adjustments and reform directions issued by the NSFC for 2026. Additionally, he outlined key timelines and priority tasks for the campus application process, emphasizing the importance for faculty and research administrators to plan and execute the 2026 NSFC application efforts with a focus on quality.

During the experience-sharing session, Qian Chao, Yasutaka Narazaki, Liu Zuozhu, and Shao Feifei drew from their years of practical experience to provide clear and insightful explanations of the key stages in the application process. They addressed essential topics such as precise topic selection, optimized application pathways, developing the structure of proposals, refining content details, focusing on review criteria, and enhancing presentation skills for defense.

Not only did they share a comprehensive methodology--from conceptualizing research topics to polishing application materials--but they also analyzed specific cases to highlight the details and strategies that reviewers typically emphasize. Their input offered faculty members practical and inspiring guidance.

An interactive Q&A session took place on-site, during which WANG Hongwei and four speakers addressed questions from faculty regarding specific policies and material preparation. Attendees noted that the mobilization meeting provided "accurate policy interpretation, practical guidance, and clear planning," instilling strong confidence and outlining the path forward for the application process.

Following this mobilization meeting, the campus is fully committed to achieving its goals for the 2026 NSFC applications. The Office of Scientific Research and Technology Transfer will continue to provide one-on-one application coaching and comprehensive support throughout the application process. This initiative aims to help faculty improve the quality of their submissions, ultimately contributing to the high-quality development of the International Campus's disciplinary growth and scientific research innovation.
