On March 21, the first Juanhu Lake Salon was held in the Faculty Club of the International Campus. Faculty members of the International Campus, professors from departments of Zhejiang University and technical leaders from leading enterprises in Haining had face-to-face discussions about the cutting-edge issues in the field of biomedical polymers.
Juanhu Lake Salon is a new series of discussion activities launched by the International Campus in 2019. The Salon will provide a platform for interdisciplinary academic exchanges and university/industrial cooperation, where faculty from different disciplines of Zhejiang University have opportunities to engage and interact with each other and leading businesses and corporations in Haining City.
The theme of the first Juanhu Lake Salon was biomedical polymers. Professor Gao Changyou, Head of the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University and distinguished Changjiang Scholar, delivered the keynote speech. Over a dozen teachers from the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, College of Life Science, Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJE) and Zhejiang University/University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI), and several technical leaders from leading enterprises in Haining, attended the Salon. An in-depth exchange of insights was had regarding frontier research and industrial applications of biomedical polymers as well as talent cultivation, regional innovation and production-study-research cooperation.
